I'm making this neck brace with a similar design to my extra strong cuffs. That is, the outside, or straps, are made of two layers of cowhide, the outer 1.5-2 mm thick, strong cowhide, and the inner 1.5-2 mm thick, soft but also strong cowhide. I put a 3 mm thick sponge covered with soft leather on the inside; this is a little wider than the outside so that the thick part does not touch your skin. This lining also covers the rivets that hold the buckles and half rings.
The width varies between 8 and 12 cm. This allows the head to be moved just a little bit.
