The burgundy leather I use for the main parts and the connecting straps is about 2 mm thick, strong cowhide, with another layer of leather underneath, and the grey is butter soft but strong cowhide. I used the latter to cover the padding with sponge, and used the same for the straps, in three layers.
All metal accessories (buckles, half rings, carabiners, rivets) are made of solid copper. I put 2 half rings on the wrist cuffs and 3 half rings on the ankle cuffs.
